Around the Community: April

A small look at the events I was able to take part in around the community in April!

Discover TechNATA Tech Expo & Career Fair

I was delighted to visit the TechNATA Expo and Career Fair to chat with professionals from some of  the many businesses in our community. The Expo was a wonderful opportunity for local businesses to exhibit their products and services and recruit talent. Many are not aware that Kanata North is the largest research and technology park in Canada, contributing an impressive $7.8 billion in high tech GDP annually. Kanata is fortunate to have attracted amazing people from around the world who have so much to offer our community. The spirit of inclusivity and appreciation for diversity is what makes our tech sector so powerful internationally – and what makes Kanata such a great place to live. Thank you to the organizers of TechNATA for such a wonderful event! I can’t wait for the next one.

Town Halls

I want to thank everyone who came out to my two Town Halls at the West Carleton Community Complex and the Richcraft Recreation Complex on March 25th. It was very insightful to speak with all of you about the issues concerning our communities. From the economy to helping our most vulnerable, I was grateful for the conversations we had and look forward to working hard on your behalf.

Meals on Wheels

I had the pleasure of joining the Meals on Wheels team to deliver meals to seniors and adults with a physical disability residing in Western Ottawa and Kanata. What an amazing team of volunteers giving back to our community! Thank you to everyone at the WOCRC involved in Meals on Wheels, from those preparing the food to those out delivering meals.

Thanking Volunteers

I am continually impressed by the amazing volunteers I meet on a daily basis in our communities. This past week I was thrilled to attend the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre annual volunteer appreciation breakfast, and personally thank the countless volunteers helping out our communities. I can’t thank enough the wonderful people who volunteer their time and energy to help those who need our help.
