Around The Community: January 10 – 16

Small look at the events I was able to take part in around the community for the week of January 10 - 16

Closing of Community Papers:

As you are aware by now, two of our beloved community papers, the Kanata Kourier and the West Carleton Review, are no longer in print. These newspapers were an integral part of our communities, where we could read about our neighbours, our volunteers, and keep up to date with the many exciting events taking place in our communities. While we work toward restoring community newspapers in our riding, I will continue to share these weekly updates with you all, posting them on my website every week.

Speaking to Students:

I was happy to visit Peak Academy and speak with students on a wide variety of topics, from caring for the environment to how Canadians can help each other every day. Thank you for all of your insightful questions! I always love visiting schools and hearing from the young members in our communities. If you would like me to visit your school, give me a call and we will make it happen!

Visiting Local Businesses:

I had the opportunity to visit Secure City Solutions in Kanata to learn about the company and the work they are doing in our community. As the only company to win two “Build in Canada Innovation Program” awards, Secure City Solutions has a lot to offer in the realm of tech. Thank you for having me!

Kanata Seniors:

I had the pleasure of speaking with Kanata Chinese Seniors about the issues that matter most to them. I also dropped into the Kanata Seniors Discussion Group to hear about the work they get up to in our communities. It is great to see everyone so engaged!

Canada Summer Jobs – employers apply now!
