I was pleased to join the Air Cadets from 706 Ottawa Snowy Owl Air Cadet Squadron, and Navy Cadets from the Centurion Sea Cadet Corps as they sold Remembrance Day poppies. It was terrific to meet and chat with such engaged young citizens, and to speak to so many constituents. I hope you all had a chance to attend a ceremony to thank and pay tribute to our Veterans.
Stonehaven Manor Sing-Along
What a thrill to listen to Grade 2 and 3 students as they performed war-time songs to residents of Stonehaven Manor. Everyone had such a great time and the students did an amazing job. I would like to extend my thanks to the organizers for their kind invitation to attend and sing along with the students. Following the singing, I was delighted to speak to the seniors and answer their questions.
West Carleton Remembrance Day Service
I want to thank the West Carleton Legion for their excellent Remembrance Day ceremony in Constance Bay. I was thrilled to see so many people turn out for the event, and it was great to see so many young people. As always, it was nice to meet and speak to Veterans and their familities.
Ottawa Veterans Honoured
It was my privilege to attend a medals ceremony at the Embassy of France. The French ambassador presented 8 Ottawa-area Veterans the insignia of Knight in the National Order of the Legion of Honor of the French Republic, on behalf of the Government of France. The Veterans were awarded the medal for their contributions during the Second World War.
Aboriginal Remembrance Day
In my capacity as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs, I was honoured to attend an Aboriginal Veterans Day Ceremony in Winnipeg. I was happy to speak to so many people from this great community.
